During a visit in February, the Sustentar team met with several organizations in Baja California and Baja California Sur, including the Agricultural Council of Baja California, the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, agro-export companies, and civil society organizations. The meetings included a presentation of the project’s mission to improve labor practices in the region and discussions of opportunities for collaboration, such as promoting project participation and training of private sector partners.
The team also attended a forum hosted by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development of Baja California (SADERBC) called “2024 Expectations of the Labor Reform for Field Workers.” The purpose of the forum was to inform producers in the region about current labor laws so that they can be better prepared to comply with regulations and provide security and well-being for field workers.
